Does Being Stressed Cause You to Stress Eat?
If you are anything like me, the slightest added pressure pushes you into a full-on eating frenzy! Do any of you have days similar to this; I am talking about waking up before the sun rises, feeding the kids a homemade breakfast (not cereal), packing their lunch, driving them to school, making sure classroom lessons for work are going to grab even the most unwilling student’s attention, after school faculty meeting followed by after school practices for two of your three kids, cooking dinner, cleaning, washing, more work, and the list goes on. It is a miracle we are alive to tell the tale. I mean there really isn’t any downtime.
Thus, at the end of the day, when someone asks you to help them with their homework just as you’re about to kick up your feet, you can’t help but make a mad dash, passed the freshly cut watermelon, and head directly to the freezer to pull out that tub of ice cream you’ve been eyeing for the past two days. You finally reached your stress limit and boom! Just like that, the tub is gone, and your satisfaction turns to sheer disgust as you reach your spoon in the tub only to find it empty. You have done it again. Why didn’t you stop at the watermelon?
Being stressed definitely fuels my sugar addiction. I get the satisfaction I am seeking for a slight moment, only to feel an overwhelming sense of regret after the act of eating has ceased. If you are dealing with this issue, don’t put yourself down or think you are in this battle alone. I am currently in the thick of this mess. I am the heaviest I have ever been and I am also the most stressed I have ever been. But, I know that I am not alone and that I will do better and be better with support from family, friends, and YOU. There is no quick fix stress eating cure and I am at the point to where I now know I have got to get this right so that I can live a long, healthy life.
Whether it be me exercising, volunteering somewhere, reading up on the WHOLE30, or meditating, I know that I must start releasing my stress anywhere else but the kitchen. I urge you to do the same. Don’t wait around for a stress eating cure. Instead, find your passion!
Starting this blog has really de-stressed me. It keeps me focused and happy, even if it is work. It’s a win-win! It is my stress eating solution.
Is Your Financial Situation Leading You to Stress Eat?
As if we needed any more reasons to take out our stress on food, one area of life that I have noticed that can also lead to stress eating is dealing with financial stress. Bills pile up and it seems as if no matter how much you make, there never is enough to cover all the bills and the activities that your kids want to take part in which include club sports, school sports, school outings, buying new clothes, fun activities with friends, etc… The list seems endless.
Have you ever been down right broke and just had the urge to open your pantry and devour anything in sight? If you have, I’m right there with you. Financial stress can be a big deal, especially when you have a family.
There are many things you can do to steer away from over-consumption. For instance, you can find time to go for a walk, read a book, knit a scarf, or take part in any other activity that interests you.
If you are striving to bring in extra income or wanting some spending cash, you can find a part-time job, pick up extra hours at work, or, better yet, work from home! How cool would that be? Working from home might be a huge stress relief if you are blessed enough to utilize the Wealthy Affiliate platform.
Free Yourself from Stress, Build Your Very Own Website
I recently started learning how to create my website and I owe it all to Wealthy Affiliate. If you are feeling the pangs of the financial burden, or just want some spending cash, and have always wanted to either work from home or start an online business as a part-time job or full-time job, I suggest giving WA a try. I have learned so much in such a short period of time.
I had been searching for a long time for online work and website building. Yet, scam after scam, I almost gave up completely. Miraculously enough, I stumbled upon the WA site and it has been great. Wealthy Affiliate is not a scam!
Before WA, I had no clue where to start when it came to building a website. Yet, here I am today, doing it. It may not be perfect, but it is a learning process and I am ok with that. After all, this is not a place where they ask you to pay a certain amount of money upfront so you can get rich quick. It doesn’t work that way. You have to put first things first and devote time to making it work.
The good thing is that WA is totally free to start. You get to try it out and if you feel like it is the place for you to reduce stress and grow as an online business owner, you move on. It’s that easy. You move your stress eating habit to something more productive and healthy. Now that is a step in the right direction if you ask me.
There are many ways to handle or improve your financial situation and minimize stress eating, but a way for me has been creating my own website. It has given me ownership over something that is my own. While I am in the early stages of learning through Wealthy Affiliate, It has proven effective in keeping me busy researching topics that I love, and away from foods. Instead of stress eating, I go to my page and start writing, responding to comments, or head to the WA site for tutorials and support from the staff and members.
Put your stress to work for you!
